Men wore hats of different styles: Eastern Armenian wore fur hats, Western Armenian - knitted and woven. Dwellers of Lori region preferred wide, low and puffed "papakhas", Armenians of Zangezur wore taller, narrower and less furry hats. People of urban areas wore, like a cylinder, high cap, often made of expensive Bukhara Karakul. Armenian shoes were also distinguished by their diversity.
Home-made sandals, made of rough rawhide leather with leather laces, were widely used in the villages of eastern Armenia, and in each district laces were tied differently.
These sandals were worn with woolen patterned socks. In urban areas men wore boots with thick soles and heels, but also with sharp and upturned toes.
In the western regions Armenians wore low heel shoes over knit-patterned socks, with tongues and sharp, upturned toes. These shoes were called soler. Men's shoes were made of red or black leather and had tags on the counter and sole was fixed with nails with protruding heads.
Western Armenian peasants usually wore rshekter. These were home-made shoes with felt soles and knitted top.
FEMALE COSTUME

Women's traditional dress of Eastern and Western Armenia was more similar. It was a dress (loose and tight), caftan and sleeveless jacket. Depending on income, dresses were made of satin, silk, brocade, plush. Later, women and girls wore spruce oversleeves to drop-sleeves dresses sewn to the sleeve by means of laces.
Artistic expression of the Armenian national women's clothing reflected in many ways, including embroidery and costume of the wealthy population was distinguished by gold and silver embroidery.
Amazingly diverse women's jewelry played an important role in the artistic structure of the national costume.
Jewelry was carefully preserved as family treasures and handed down from generation to generation. Silver necklaces, bracelets were used as jewelry, silver piece of jewelry with turquoise was passed through the nose, bracelets with pendants were put on feet. Dwellers of Karin loved amber and pearls. Vaspurakan Armenians preferred turquoise and coral.
